The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking comment on a draft finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the city of Fruitland drinking water improvement project.

The project would improve water capacity, treatment, storage, and distribution throughout the system and involve the following upgrades:

  • Initiating a pre-treatment study at the water treatment plant and upgrading infrastructure.
  • Constructing a fourth infiltration gallery and fourth membrane rack, reviewing distribution pumps and pipes, expanding chlorine contact tank, and replacing existing water intake pipes.
  • Constructing a 1.2 million-gallon aboveground storage reservoir.
  • Replacing water service lines.
  • Extending existing water distribution system south along State Highway 95.

The draft FONSI is available for public review at DEQ’s State Office (1410 N. Hilton Street, Boise, Idaho) and on DEQ’s Public Comment Opportunities page. Written comments will be accepted through May 13, 2024, at 5 p.m. (MDT). Submit comments electronically via DEQ’s public comment form or by mail or email:
