Crop Residue Burn Advisory Committee

The Crop Residue Burning Advisory Committee was established by state rule authorizing DEQ to manage the burning of crop residue on lands other than the five Indian reservations. The committee meets annually to review program procedures, evaluate performance during the most recently concluded burn season, and recommend improvements.

The committee is comprised of representatives from environmental, farming, health, and tribal organizations, along with DEQ, Idaho State Department of Agriculture, and the US Environmental Protection Agency. Currently, the committee includes 12 members appointed to 4-year terms by DEQ’s director.
