DEQ seeks comment on draft reuse permit for Stimson Lumber Company
Accepting comments from July 31, 2025, through September 1, 2025.
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking comment on a draft reuse permit for Stimson Lumber Company.
Stimson Lumber Company owns and operates a reuse facility that produces industrial recycled water, which is used for dust suppression on unpaved roads. The company applied for a new water reuse permit to beneficially use approximately 18,000 gallons per year of industrial recycled water generated from their water softener backwash.
The draft reuse permit establishes monitoring requirements, limits on constituent loading, and conditions established by DEQ to protect public health and the environment. As part of the permitting process, the company was also required to show that its operation would not cause public health or environmental concerns.
The permit materials are available for public review at DEQ’s Coeur d’Alene Regional Office and on DEQ’s website. Written comments will be accepted through September 1, 2025, at 5 p.m. Pacific Time. Submit comments electronically using the form below or by mail or email to:
