The city of Coeur d’Alene is installing stormwater storage/filter systems and vegetated swales to divert stormwater from existing outfalls in the urban drainage areas. The city received $695,000 from Governor Little’s Leading Idaho initiative for the outfall projects at Independence Point, Sanders Beach, and Mullan Avenue. This project will reduce phosphorus by 395 lbs. per year, yielding 3,950 lbs./10years (in perpetuity) for a cost-benefit ratio of $880 per lb. per 10 years.
