DEQ seeks comment on draft reuse permit modification for Idaho Power Company

Accepting comments from November 17, 2025, through December 17, 2025.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on a draft industrial reuse permit modification for Idaho Power’s Danskin Power Plant facility. This modification changes the irrigated acreage at the Danskin Power Plant.

Idaho Power Company’s Danskin Power Plant, located near Mountain Home, Idaho, currently operates under an industrial reuse permit and applies recycled water to three landscaped berms on the site’s property per management unit MU-268-01. The proposed modification seeks to expand the amount of landscaped areas water by recycled water from 2.17 acres to 2.5 acres in MU-268-01. The expanded acreage would be two new landscaped areas along Mashburn Road on Idaho Power Company property.

The draft reuse permit establishes monitoring requirements and conditions established by DEQ to protect public health and the environment. As part of the permitting process, the permittee was also required to show that its operation would not cause public health or environmental concerns.

Written comments on the draft permit modification will be accepted through December 17, 2025, at 5 p.m. MST. The draft permit and staff analysis are available for public review at DEQ’s state office (1410 N. Hilton St.), DEQ’s Boise Regional Office (1445 N. Orchard St.), and on DEQ’s website.
