Drinking Water: Docket No. 58-0108-2601

Rulemaking initiated to update fees for public drinking water systems and revise invoice delivery and payment methods.

Status of Rulemaking

Negotiated Rulemaking Spring 2026.

Overview

DEQ initiated this rulemaking to revise the fee schedule for public drinking water systems found in Section 007 of IDAPA 58.01.08, Idaho Rules for Public Drinking Water Systems. The purpose of the assessed fee is to ensure public health protection through services rendered by DEQ in implementing the Safe Drinking Water Act.  The fee schedule was implemented in 1993 and has remained unchanged since that date. The fee revision is being proposed to align drinking water fees with current and anticipated program operating costs, allowing DEQ to maintain appropriate regulatory oversight of the drinking water program and ensure public health protection.
