The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on a draft permit to construct modification for Idahoan Foods, LLC – Idaho Falls.
Idahoan Foods, LLC – Idaho Falls currently operates a potato processing facility in Idaho Falls, Idaho, that dehydrates potatoes to produce potato flakes. The company is proposing to modify its facility, and its permit to construct, by adding a third Real Line fluidized bed dryer, a cyclone, two new flake drum dryers, a new slice/piece line belt dryer, five additional air makeup units (which includes one existing but unpermitted unit), one new natural gas-fired boiler, and two baghouses.
DEQ has determined that construction and operation according to the proposed modified permit will not cause or significantly contribute to a violation of any ambient air quality standard and will not injure or unreasonably affect human, animal life or vegetation. DEQ has reviewed the application and completed an analysis of the information submitted by the applicant to modify their current PTC to install a new real line dryer, two flake drum dryers, a new slice/piece line belt dryer, multiple air makeup units, a new boiler, and two new baghouses. Based on this analysis, DEQ proposes to issue the modified permit to construct to Idahoan Foods, LLC – Idaho Falls.
The draft permit materials are available for public review at DEQ’s State Office (1410 N. Hilton St.) and below in related documents. Written comments on the draft permit and supporting materials will be accepted through September 8, 2026, at 5 p.m. MT. Submit comments using the form below or via mail or email to:
