BOISE – The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) today awarded $50,000 to two drinking water systems to help evaluate deficiencies and determine necessary upgrades.
The following systems received funding:
Swan Lake Culinary Water Company
Swan Lake Culinary Water Company in Bannock County was awarded a $25,000 drinking water facility planning grant. The funding will be used to prepare a drinking water planning study and environmental review to evaluate the current drinking water system and identify needed improvements. The total project cost is $50,000 and the remaining $25,000 will be funded by U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development.
Lakeview Townsite Improvement Association
Lakeview Townsite Improvement Association in Bonner County was awarded a $25,000 drinking water facility planning grant. The funding will be used to prepare a drinking water planning study and environmental review to evaluate the current drinking water system and identify needed improvements. The total project cost is $50,000 and the remaining $25,000 will be funded by Lakeview Townsite Improvement Association.
Background
DEQ’s Planning Grant Program provides assistance to eligible wastewater and drinking water systems. These grants are used to develop engineering reports identifying the most cost-effective, environmentally sound method of upgrading a system to achieve and maintain compliance with state and federal standards. Grants cover up to 50% of eligible planning costs, with the remaining cost being the grant recipient’s responsibility.
