BOISE – The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) today announced the award of a $2,000,000 low-interest drinking water construction loan to Camp Fire Inland Northwest in Kootenai County, Idaho

The funding will be used to install a new pump station and backup generator, a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, pressure-reducing valves, a flow meter, a booster station, and a booster pump. The funding will also be used to rehabilitate the reservoirs and replace outdated electrical, piping, and water mains.

DEQ is authorized by state law to provide loans to assist in constructing public drinking water systems. This loan from DEQ’s State Revolving Loan Fund, which is capitalized annually by grants from the United States Environmental Protection Agency, carries a simple 2.75% interest rate and is payable over 20 years. These favorable loan terms represent a $708,543 savings to the community when compared to average costs for municipal general obligation debt issuances.
