DEQ seeks comment on draft reuse permit renewal for Rigby Produce, Inc.

Accepting comments from February 13, 2026, through March 17, 2026.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking comment on draft reuse permit renewal (I-125-04) for Rigby Produce, Inc.

Rigby Produce, Inc. owns and operates an industrial potato washing and fresh packing facility that is located approximately 2.25 miles north of Hamer, Idaho, east of Interstate 15. The facility reuses wastewater from potato and equipment washing to irrigate year-round to 79 acres of agricultural land that typically grows grass hay or alfalfa during the growing season.

The draft reuse permit establishes monitoring requirements, limits on nutrient and hydraulic loading, and conditions established by DEQ to protect public health and the environment. As part of the permitting process, the facility was also required to show that its operation would not cause public health or environmental concerns.

Written comments on the draft permit will be accepted through March 17, at 5 p.m. mountain time. The draft permit and staff analysis are available for public review at DEQ’s state office (1410 N. Hilton St.), DEQ’s Idaho Falls Regional Office (900 N. Skyline Dr., Suite B), and on DEQ’s website.
