DEQ issues a variety of permits and certifications to protect the quality of Idaho’s air, land, and water and to ensure that wastes are treated, stored, and disposed of safely. Permits establish the conditions under which facilities that generate pollution may operate and outline the applicable state and federal laws with which facilities are required to comply. Public participation is essential in the permitting process, and input can be submitted via public comment.
DEQ is also responsible for overseeing regulated entities. We help businesses understand applicable regulations and comply with Idaho’s environmental laws, which results in more effective business operations and protects Idaho’s natural resources.
