ISLAND PARK – The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is lifting the boil water advisory for private well owners around Big Springs Avenue in Island Park, Idaho.
DEQ issued a boil water advisory on July 1, 2026, because Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria was found in multiple wells. DEQ has been sampling private wells every two weeks since July 1, 2026, and the most recent samples show that there is no longer areawide E. coli contamination around Big Springs Avenue.
While areawide E. coli contamination appears to not be a concern at this time, some individual wells may still be affected. Private well owners in the Island Park area are encouraged to test their wells monthly for bacteria due to the recurring contamination issues in this area.
