DEQ seeks comment on proposed relocation of Meridian–St. Luke’s NCore air monitoring site

Accepting comments from November 4, 2025, through November 19, 2025.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking public comment on the proposed relocation of the Meridian–St. Luke’s NCore State and Local Air Monitoring Station (SLAMS) to the State of Idaho’s Chinden Campus in Boise.

The relocation is necessary because the existing monitoring site is being redeveloped by the property owner, resulting in the loss of site access. The proposed Chinden Campus location, approximately 4.4 miles from the current site, meets all applicable siting criteria and maintains comparable topography, land use, and airshed representativeness. The new location will continue to support PM₁₀ (i.e., particulate matter with a diameter of 10 micrometers) and carbon monoxide State Implementation Plan monitoring requirements. It will also retain the full suite of NCore instrumentation, ensuring the continued integrity of Idaho’s long-term air quality monitoring network and compliance with federal monitoring standards.

Written comments on the site relocation will be accepted through November 19, 2025, at 5 p.m. Mountain Time. Submit comments electronically on DEQ’s website or by mail or email to:
