DEQ seeks comment on proposed termination of IPDES permit for Mountain Home Air Force Base

Accepting comments from April 27, 2022, through May 27, 2022.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on the termination of the Idaho Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (IPDES) permit for Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Mountain Home Air Force Base applied to terminate the IPDES permit for its wastewater treatment facility, located on Mountain Home Air Force Base. The base discharges the treated effluent under the authorization of an Idaho Reuse permit, M-154-04.

The notice of termination request and notification letter are available for public review at DEQ’s state office (1410 N. Hilton St., Boise, ID 83706), DEQ’s Boise Regional Office (1445 N. Orchard St, Boise, ID 83706), and on DEQ’s Public Comment Opportunities page.

A public meeting may be held, if requested in writing, by May 11, 2022. Please submit requests for a public meeting electronically on DEQ’s website or mail or email to A.J. Maupin

Written comments on the termination request and response letter will be accepted through May 27, 2022, at 5 p.m. MDT. Comments should address water quality considerations, include supporting materials where available, and reference the Mountain Home Air Force Base and permit number (ID0027642).
