DEQ seeks comment on application addendum for a permit to construct and operate an air pollution emitting source for Perpetua Resources Idaho, Inc.

Accepting comments from January 13, 2022, through February 14, 2022.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) seeks comment on an application addendum for a permit to construct and operate an air pollution emitting source for Perpetua Resources Idaho, Inc.

Perpetua applied for a permit to construct and operate the Stibnite Gold Project, consisting of conventional open-pit mining, ore preparation, and gold extraction operations, located at the intersection of Forest Service Roads NF-374 and NF-412. On September 23, 2021, and October 6, 2021, DEQ received an addendum to the permit application to address substantive comments received during previous public comment periods concerning the emissions of hazardous air pollutants (HAP) and toxic air pollutants (TAP) and the lime plant status determination. DEQ has updated the proposed permit and technical review with highlighted text, in response to the HAP/TAP addendum and all public comments received to date.

An additional 30 day public comment period is being provided to allow for review and comment on these updates. Written comments will be accepted through February 14, 2022, at 5 p.m. MDT.

For technical assistance on questions concerning this project or the permitting process, contact Kelli Wetzel at (208) 373-0502.
