The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is announcing a public comment period and an opportunity for public hearing on an application for a permit to construct and Tier 1 operating permit amendment for Itafos Conda, LLC.
Itafos Conda, LLC produces multiple phosphate fertilizer products at its Soda Springs facility, located at 3010 Conda Road in Soda Springs, Idaho. It is classified as a major facility, as defined by the “Rules for the Control of Air Pollution” (IDAPA 58.01.01.008.10.c) because it emits or has the potential to emit PM10, SO2, NOx and CO above the major source threshold of 100 tons-per-year and emits, among other hazardous air pollutants.
The facility applied for a permit to construct to recover fluosilicic acid for shipment into railcars or tanker trucks. The permit to construct will be incorporated into the current Tier I permit upon issuance.
To request a public hearing, contact Whitney Rowley on or before November 12, 2021. Requests should include a brief statement explaining why a public hearing on the air quality aspects of the project would be beneficial. The meeting location will be accessible to persons with disabilities, and language translators will be made available upon request. Requests for these accommodations must be made no later than five days prior to the meeting date.
For technical assistance on questions concerning this project or the permitting process, please contact Christina Boulay at (208) 373-0502 or Christina.email@example.com.
