Triennial Review: Public Involvement Schedule

 

DEQ is preparing a series of activities to initiate the 2005-2008 triennial review of the Idaho water quality standards. The proposed schedule for the start of this review is outlined below. Dates through May 2005 are firm as of the end of February 2005. The schedule beyond May is tentative and will likely change. Please return to this Web site for updates.

 
 Proposed Schedule
May 4, 2005 Publish public scoping meeting notice in the Idaho Administrative Bulletin and send notices to basin advisory groups, watershed advisory groups, and others who have expressed interest in the process. Public scoping will occur as DEQ examines all water quality standards and asks for public assistance to select triennial review topics.
May 23 - 26, 2005 Hold series of three public scoping meetings for triennial review.

  • Monday, May 23 - Pocatello

Idaho State University, Pond Student Union, 1065 Cesar Chavez (on the corner of Cesar Chavez and Humbolt), 6-8 pm.
  • Tuesday, May 24 - Boise Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, State Office, 1410 North Hilton, conference rooms C and D, 6-8 pm.

  • Thursday, May 26 - Moscow

University of Idaho, Student Union Building, 709 Deakin Avenue, (corner of Deakin and 6th Street), Silver Room, 6-8 pm.
June 2005 Select triennial review topics, develop schedule for review, set negotiated rulemaking timeframe.

Summer 2005 - Spring 2006

Negotiated rulemaking. Negotiated rulemaking will occur after topics are researched and reviewed.
Spring 2006 - Summer 2006 Announce proposed rules for public comment in the Idaho Administrative Bulletin.
Fall 2006 DEQ Board meetings to follow public comment. Proposed rules may change in response to public comment. DEQ must summarize comments and any changes and present to Board for their approval.
January - February 2007 Legislature reviews pending rules.
Spring 2007 - Spring 2008 Additional rulemaking based on triennial review.
