| The Seventeenth Annual Water Quality Monitoring Workshop was held January 2-4, 2007, at Boise State University. The purpose of the workshop was to share results of water quality monitoring efforts throughout Idaho. The workshop is an annual event sponsored by the Idaho Departments of Environmental Quality, Fish and Game, Lands, and Agriculture, Boise State University-Biology Department, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Geological Survey, Agricultural Research Service, and Idaho Power Co.
Donald W. Chapman, Ph.D., a noted expert in Columbia River Basin salmon issues, and James G. Wiener, Ph.D., Wisconsin Distinguished Professor, were the keynote speakers at the 2007 workshop. Chapman's presentation was entitled "The Mother of All Non-points," while Dr. Wiener addressed "Mercury in Aquatic Ecosystems: Controls on Bioaccumulation, Adverse Effects, and Trends."
Oral presentations, a poster session and a pollutant load reduction workshop were also conducted.
