2004: 14th Annual Workshop
 

The Fifteenth Annual Nonpoint Source Water Quality Monitoring Results Workshop will be held January 4-6, 2005, at Boise State University. The purpose of the workshop is to share results of nonpoint source water quality monitoring efforts throughout Idaho. Objectives are to:

  • share monitoring results;
  • assess implementation and effectiveness of Best Management Practices (BMPs);
  • facilitate monitoring reporting; and
  • assess the status of the beneficial uses of Idaho waters.

The workshop is an annual event sponsored by the Idaho Departments of Environmental Quality, Fish and Game, Lands, and Agriculture, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Geological Survey, Agricultural Research Service, Electronic Data Solutions, Eco-Analysts, Inc., and CH2MHill.

 
 2005 Preliminary Agenda

G. Wayne Minshall of Idaho State University will be the keynote speaker at the 2005 workshop. He will discuss "NPS Effects of Fire on Idaho Wilderness Streams: A Long-term Perspective." Other topics to be covered include a proposed statewide fish tissue monitoring program for mercury, temperature and E. coli monitoring in the Boise River Basin, Idaho rural road maintenance best management practices, and historical trends in stream discharge at long-term gaging stations in Idaho. Speakers will include representatives of the U.S. Geological Survey, City of Boise, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Water Resources, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Bureau of Land Management, Idaho Power Company, and several private sector consulting firms.

 2004: 14th Annual Workshop

The 14th Annual Nonpoint Source Water Quality Monitoring Results Workshop was held January 6-8 at Boise State University. The keynote speaker was Randy Smith, Director of the U.S. EPA Region 10 Water Quality Division in Seattle. Also on the agenda were panel discussions and presentations by representatives of the Idaho Departments of Environmental Quality, Fish and Game, Water Resources, Agriculture, and Lands, Idaho Soil Conservation Commission, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Nez Perce Tribe, University of Idaho, Idaho State University, and a number of water quality consulting firms.


Topics presented at the workshop included reports on water quality improvement projects in the Upper Owyhee and MidSnake-Succor TMDL areas in southwest Idaho, the Umatilla and Spokane Rivers, Boise River Basin, Little Wood River and Upper Teton River Subbasins, Cascade Reservoir, Coeur d'Alene Lake and Lake Pend Oreille, and Billingsley, Clear, and Bogus Creeks, and on various water quality assessment, analysis, and modeling tools. Summaries of and links to presentations are included in the abstract document.
