Information for Laboratories

Idaho's Rules Governing Certification of Idaho Water Quality Laboratories (IDAPA 16.02.13) require laboratories to report public drinking water results in a format specified by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW). The Idaho Bureau of Laboratories is the certifying authority for the state of Idaho.

DEQ contracts with the Idaho Bureau of Laboratories to certify drinking water laboratories for testing of drinking water from public water systems and to have labs report results according to DEQ-specified formats. The bureau certifies labs for microbiological, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry analytes and methods.

Sample Submission Procedures and Reporting Forms

Samples must be submitted in appropriate packaging and accompanied by the proper submission form for the test requested. Information on safely submitting samples can be found in the Sampling and Submission Guide (pdf on Idaho Bureau of Laboratories Web site).

Forms may be downloaded from the bureau's Web site or obtained as follows:

  • chemical and radiological reporting templates and instructions:

Jerri Henry, DEQ, (208) 373-0471 or jerri.henry@deq.idaho.gov
