Mine Waste Management in Idaho:
East Mission Flats Repository

 

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) have sited and acquired a 19-acre parcel of land for the purpose of providing a repository for wastes generated in the Lower Coeur d' Alene Basin. The property, referred to as the "East Mission Flats Repository" or EMF, is located adjacent to Interstate 90 (exit 39) and Canyon Road, about one mile west of Cataldo, Idaho.
 

30% Design Report (May 2007: pdf 16.1 mb, 275 pages)

The 30 % design report was developed to give the interested lay public, agency personnel, and technical experts (engineers and scientists) information on how the site was evaluated and how the repository was designed.
