Ray's Car Care - Burley

Rays CarCare 1
May 2008 - Ray's Car Care, 504 E. Main St., Burley, Idaho

Site Background

From approximately 1963 to 1983, the site was used as a fuel distribution station and had a cinder block building located on the property. In 1983, the building and property were sold to a new owner and the site was used as an automobile service station for a number of years. At this time all three underground storage tanks (USTs) were removed. In 1995, the property and the building were purchased from two separate owners and the property was turned into Ray's Car Care and Exhaust, an automobile repair shop. In 2007, the owner submitted a Brownfields assessment application to DEQ so potential purchasers’ environmental concerns would be alleviated.

Site Investigation Process

Through the Brownfields program, DEQ contracted to have TerraGraphics perform a Phase I Assessment on the property. The Phase I Assessment revealed recognized environmental concerns on the property so DEQ again contracted with TerraGraphics to perform a Phase II Assessment. The Phase II Assessment consisted of collecting nine soil samples and three ground water samples and issuing a summary report. The report was finalized June 16, 2008, and indicated no contamination.

Site Cleanup

The site does not need cleanup.
