PM96-1: Special Interest Related Activities

 Purpose

Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) funds shall not be used for special-interest related activities.

 

 Statement of Policy

Funding, or lending the use of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) name, to events outside the scope of state-sponsored events is prohibited.

This restriction applies to sponsorship, or co-sponsorship, of all non-governmental organizations, regardless of their merit or intent.

 Examples of Restricted Events

Agency sponsorship, or co-sponsorship, of conferences, workshops, or symposiums organized by associations or private entities.

 

 Definitions
"Funding" is defined as lending or donating appropriated or non-appropriated monies specifically from the state agency, divisions, or departments.

"Lending the use of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) name" is defined as printing any reference of "DEQ", "Department of Environmental Quality", or the DEQ logo on letterhead, posters, banners or other paraphernalia or designating such reference in media advertisements of a restricted event.

 

 Implementation

This policy shall be effective immediately.
