Clearwater Basin Advisory Group seeks new members

Thursday, January 18, 2018

LEWISTON — The Clearwater Basin Advisory Group (BAG) is seeking a forestry representative and nonmunicipal point source discharge permittee to be part of a group of 10 citizens who advise the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) on water quality objectives in Latah, Clearwater, Nez Perce, Lewis, and Idaho counties.

The group is currently looking for a nonmunicipal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permittee and forestry representative who have been involved in water quality issues in the area and are familiar with watersheds.

BAG members are appointed by the DEQ director. State law requires that they represent a cross section of interests in the basin, such as agriculture, forestry, municipalities, industry, recreation, tribes, environmental interests, and the general public.

The BAG meets periodically throughout the year. Members are unpaid but are reimbursed for travel expenses.

Persons interested in serving on the BAG should contact Sujata Connell in DEQ's Lewiston Regional Office by March 2, 2018, at (208) 799-4370 or
