Idaho Department of Environmental Quality Director John Tippets has named Michael McCurdy as the new Waste Management and Remediation Division Administrator.

McCurdy will oversee the division responsible for monitoring and controlling the generation, treatment, storage, and disposal of wastes, as well as the assessment and cleanup of contamination in Idaho.

Before becoming administrator, McCurdy was DEQ’s state response program manager, where he oversaw the statewide underground storage tank, leaking underground storage tank, brownfields, solid waste, voluntary cleanup, and general and site remediation programs. McCurdy has also worked at the DEQ Boise Regional Office as the ground water and remediation manager.

“Michael brings a great deal of experience and expertise to this position as well as a reputation for excellence,” Director Tippets said.

McCurdy replaces Orville Green who retired from DEQ in December after 30 years of service with the state.
