Meteorological Forecast and Air Quality Discussion:
Today, the upper level low will begin to fill and a secondary trough will extend to the southwest. This will bring a chance for showers and thunderstorms over the Panhandle and a slight chance for showers elsewhere over northern Idaho. The surface pressure gradient will be oriented from south to north. Surface wind speeds will range from 5-10 mph and will be from the southwest to northwest. Skies will be mostly cloudy to partly cloudy. Mixing heights are expected to range from 1,000-6,000 feet AGL over all airsheds. The winds aloft over northern Idaho will be from the southwest to northwest at 5-10 mph. Ventilation will be POOR in the morning becoming EXCELLENT in the afternoon. The inversions will break out between 10am-11am. Air quality is good. PM2.5 and ozone concentrations are expected to remain below program concentration thresholds.
